About the Acer Japonicum 'Attaryi':
Variety: Acer Japonicum 'Attaryi', Attaryi Full Moon Japanese Maple
Full Size: A small to medium tree with a rounded crown. In 10 years it can reach roughly 2.5 to 3 metres high and 1.8 to 2.4 metres wide, with the potential to become larger with age in good conditions.
Foliage: Deciduous. Ferny, deeply lobed deep green leaves, similar to Acer Japonicum Aconitifolium but with slightly larger leaves and softer lobing. Autumn colour is a standout, with brilliant reds and flame tones often mixed with yellow and orange.
Why Choose the Acer Palmatum Attaryi?
Key Features:
• One of the best choices for intense autumn colour, producing brilliant red foliage with extra warmth from yellow and orange tones.
• Beautiful rounded, full moon style form that matures into a balanced, round topped feature tree, often becoming about as wide as it is tall.
• Rich, ferny foliage gives a softer texture than most upright Japanese Maples, making it ideal near paths, water features, and Japanese inspired gardens.
• A great alternative to Acer Japonicum Aconitifolium if you love that look but want slightly larger leaves and a less deeply cut outline.
• Delicate early spring flowers add another seasonal layer of interest, followed by winged seed.
• Best foliage quality comes from filtered sun or morning sun with protection from hot, drying winds, especially in warmer Australian positions.
