About the Acer Palmatum 'Kamagata':
Variety: Acer Palmatum 'Kamagata', Kamagata Japanese Maple
Full Size: An upright dwarf Japanese Maple, commonly maturing around 1.8 to 2.7 metres tall, with a compact, shrubby tree form that stays narrower than many standard green maples.
Foliage: Deciduous. Bright to medium green leaves with a delicate, slightly drooping presentation, often showing red edging on new spring growth, then finishing with strong ruby red autumn colour.
Why Choose the Acer Palmatum Kamagata?
Key Features:
• A compact upright feature Maple that suits smaller gardens and courtyards, giving height and structure without a wide canopy.
• Known for its distinctive leaf habit, the foliage hangs delicately to create a soft, refined look that stands out from typical green Japanese Maples.
• A great option for drier, rock garden style planting compared to many other Japanese Maples, once established and well positioned.
• Spring growth can show attractive red edging, adding extra detail early in the season before settling into clean green summer foliage.
• Finishes the year with a vivid ruby red autumn display, giving strong colour impact in a compact footprint.
• Best in morning sun to filtered sun with protection from hot winds, especially in warmer Australian positions, to keep foliage looking its best through summer.
