About the Acer Palmatum 'Matsukaze':
Variety: Acer Palmatum 'Matsukaze', Matsukaze Japanese Maple
Full Size: A vigorous, broad, shrubby Japanese Maple that typically grows to about 4 metres tall, developing a graceful, spreading form with softly cascading branches.
Foliage: Deciduous. Deeply divided leaves emerge bronze red to purple red in spring with bright green veins, mature to rich green through summer, then finish deep red and crimson in autumn.
Why Choose the Acer Palmatum Matsukaze?
Key Features:
• Spectacular spring display, bronze red to purple red new growth highlighted by bright green veining for a high contrast look.
• Deeply divided foliage creates a refined, lacy texture that looks stunning up close, especially near paths, courtyards, and entry gardens.
• Strong seasonal change, settling into rich green summer foliage before finishing with deep crimson autumn colour.
• Naturally graceful structure with softly cascading branching, giving the tree an elegant silhouette even in winter once leafless.
• Performs best in sun to part shade with consistent moisture, and benefits from protection from hot, drying winds to keep foliage looking clean through summer, especially in warmer Australian positions.
