About the Acer Palmatum 'Oregon Sunset':
Variety: Acer Palmatum 'Oregon Sunset', Oregon Sunset Japanese Maple
Full Size: A medium sized, spreading Japanese Maple that reaches about 2.1 metres high and 3.0 metres wide in around 20 years, with lots of lateral branching and a slightly upright shape.
Foliage: Deciduous. Large, rounded palmate leaves that emerge a deep plum colour in early spring, then finish in autumn with brilliant sunset tones of orange and red.
Why Choose the Acer Palmatum Oregon Sunset?
Key Features:
• Large rounded plum spring foliage gives a bold look that is very different to finer leaf green varieties.
• Naturally develops a wide, spreading shape thanks to its strong lateral branching, making it ideal for feature planting in smaller garden spaces.
• Autumn colour is a standout, with bright orange and scarlet red tones that live up to the name.
• Can be trained lower and wider by trimming the central leader early, which is handy if you want the colour without adding height.
• Best foliage quality comes from a position protected from hot afternoon sun, especially in warmer Australian conditions.
