About the Acer Palmatum 'Tamukeyama':
Variety: Acer Palmatum 'Tamukeyama', Tamukeyama Japanese Maple
Full Size: Typically grows around 1.5 to 2 metres high and 2 to 3 metres wide over time, forming a broad, cascading umbrella shape.
Foliage: Deciduous. A weeping red, finely dissected Japanese Maple that leafs out deep burgundy in spring, holds dark red colour strongly through summer, then finishes bright scarlet red in autumn.
Why Choose the Acer Palmatum Tamukeyama?
Key Features:
• One of the best red weeping Japanese Maples for holding colour through the warmer months, staying darker for longer than many other red laceleaf types.
• Classic cascading habit with an umbrella like form, perfect as a feature tree over rocks, gravel gardens, ponds, or Japanese inspired planting.
• Strong autumn colour, finishing a bright scarlet red that really lights up the garden late in the season.
• Late to leaf out, which helps it avoid late frosts compared to earlier leafing varieties, a big plus in cold pockets.
• Noted for toughness and heat tolerance for a dissected Maple, and it can take more sun than many fine leaf weeping varieties when moisture is consistent.
• A very old Japanese selection that has been grown and propagated for centuries, valued for reliability, colour, and form.
