Why Choose the Bay Tree?

Key Features:

  • A versatile and long-lived evergreen tree ideal for hedging, screening, or use as a formal potted topiary in Australian gardens.

  • Highly aromatic foliage valued in the kitchen, with fresh or dried bay leaves used in soups, stews, and roasts.

  • Easily maintained with pruning, and can be shaped into standards, cones, balls, or low hedges for a formal Mediterranean look.

  • Hardy and low maintenance, thriving in full sun to part shade and tolerating a range of soil types including clay and sandy loam.

  • Drought and frost tolerant once established, making it a practical and ornamental feature for both courtyards and larger landscapes.
